This one is for Q!

Our friend Q made it to Nome!

Hello and happy Saturday!

We were SO EXCITED to hear today that our friend Quince Mountain and his team of sled dogs MADE IT TO NOME (the Iditarod finish)!!!

Without making too many speculations as to what happened on the trail until we hear more from our friends, I will say this: Q was pulled from the Iditarod after racing 660 (I believe) miles. The Iditarod Trail Committee forced him and his team to withdraw against their wishes.

However, we found out today that Q and his team, the absolute BADASSES that they are, MADE IT TO NOME, ON THEIR OWN! He carried all his own supplies and over 120 pounds of dog food, and a satellite phone and kept mushing with six dogs.

Folks, he mushed around 250 miles completely self-supported!

I am SO HAPPY for him and his dogs, completing the journey they set out on, despite people telling him he couldn’t. And he did it with the legendary leader, Pepe, who just made it to Nome for the second time at 12 years old!

I cannot wait to hear more about their journey and what this means to them. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, check out this video from team BraverMountain talking about Q’s journey after he was told his race was over.

Congratulations, Q! You are a true inspiration!

As for us, I’m still trying to get over my sinus illness, and unfortunately Riley came down with it a few days ago as well. So we’ve been on a few walks with Pence, but other than that, things have been pretty low key.

Riley did rearrange his office, to which Pence was unsure how she felt about it. Her favorite spot is now about 6 feet away from where it previously was. BUT, now she has a better view through the doorway to see what we’re up to around the house.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

We often get asked about the gear we use for both us and our dogs. We talk about everything we use from helmets and harnesses to lights and antennas for our bike.
