OMG It's Snowing!!

First snow of the season and an update on what we've been up to since Dirty Dog

Hello! We’ve been pretty busy since we returned from Dirty Dog! But before we get into what we’ve been up to, we wanted to answer a question we’ve been asked a few times. It seems like there has been a lot of people leaving X/Twitter since the election, and since they implemented new policies on photos and videos on the platform.

If you have left X/Twitter but still want to follow our adventures, don’t worry - we are on other platforms too! And here with the newsletter, of course. Here’s where you can find us:

Also, if you didn’t see it already, I made a video of some of the highlights from my two dog scooter race at Dirty Dog with Pence and Kiwi! Unfortunately this was the only race we have video of since the GoPro died and never turned back on after that. Of course the GoPro was just out of warranty. We’re hoping to get a new one soon though for more videos in the future!

Just a couple days after we returned from Dirty Dog, Riley and I flew out to Oregon for a quick trip to see some friends and attend an Oregon Ducks football game! You’re probably thinking “that’s random”, and you’re right. However, Riley has been a huge Ducks fan for years, but had never been to Oregon for a game, until now.

We also went to Crater Lake National Park where they had a few feet of snow! Probably more snow than we’ll see all winter. It was gorgeous!

While we were in Oregon, Boo and Pence went to Beth’s house. They settled in quickly and got lots of cuddles. The last couple times Pence stayed there, she would shake a little bit out of nervousness when Beth would get close to her. This time, she had no shakes and cuddled up with her multiple times! Beth and JT also took the dogs to a local state park for some hiking!

When we flew back from Oregon, we picked Pence up to bring her back home. Boo stayed at Beth’s house and will be there for a few weeks since we had him the last couple months for fall training and races.

Pence was glad to be back home. She even tried to cuddle with me again! And by tried, I mean…it was a little awkward lol. It’s like she wanted to cuddle but didn’t know how? She just looked like a weird little gremlin haha. Sled dogs are so weird sometimes!

Yesterday, we received our first snow of the season! We were supposed to have less than an inch by daybreak, but we woke up to 2.25”! I was ecstatic! I was so excited to get Pence out and play in the snow. When she ran over to the door to go out first thing, she gave me this side eye like “what the heck is this crap?!”. She begrudgingly went outside to do her business, then wanted right back in. Beth said Boo reacted similarly lol. They’ve definitely gotten used to the indoor lifestyle, I’d say!

It continued to snow throughout the day and we ended with about 4” of snow. Unfortunately the snow did not accumulate on any road/trail surfaces due to warmer ground temps, so we weren’t able to break out the sled yet. Hopefully soon!

That is all for this week! We hope everyone who celebrates has a Happy Thanksgiving!
