Hi frens!

Sorry today’s newsletter is a little later than normal….Pence demanded more scritches before I could write it.

Personality Hats are in

Fashion has spoken, and the personality hat is all the rage these days. You know what that means? It means it’s a great time to put your logo on a hat.

Talking about all the rage these days, you’re going to want to make it a Branded Bills hat. They make quality merch people actually want to wear.

Don’t just take it from us, see what a happy client has to say about the branded hats they just ordered:

They're wearing them to bowling alleys, sporting events, etc.” Rebecca Ferguson, Empire CAT

Pence Returns Home

Alright, let’s get into it!

When we left off in last week’s newsletter, Pence was at Beth’s house while we were out of town. When we arrived back in town, I went to pick her up and was hoping she’d have some sort of a happy reaction this time. But I was wrong once again.

I walked in the door, calling her name, but got nothing in return. Not even the pitter patter of her paws on the hardwood floor coming my way. I went upstairs and found her laying on the master bed. Apparently she had opened the door and jumped up there when she wasn’t supposed to lol.

When I walked over to the bed, she finally stood up and shoved her head into me, giving me some eyeball kisses (her favorite way of showing affection).

I started packing up her belongings and she realized she was going home. Finally, a little bit of excitement out of her!

When we arrived home, she bee lined toward the door. I let her in, and she ran straight to her couch, and napped there the rest of the day.

Feeling Like Fall

The last few mornings here have been in the upper 40s to low 50s temperature wise. It kind of caught me by surprise (lol, I know, I am a meteorologist after all, but I don’t forecast for a living at the moment so I don’t always pay close attention).

Of course when I realized how cool it was, my first thought was “OMG we could’ve run the dogs this morning!” And then I remembered that the scooter still had not been fixed and needed some work done before the fall season starts.

If you remember from last fall at Doty, pouring rain had deteriorated the trail conditions. I hydroplaned a couple times and lost control of the scooter. At one point, the scooter went airborne down a big hill, bouncing off the ground multiple times.

The second, smaller hill that I wrecked on ended up whipping the handlebars around, snapping the suspension cable, and jarring my front wheel 90 degrees. I wasn’t able to finish the race, or even push the scooter to the finish line. I had to carry it.

Luckily, a few people jumped into action to at least make the scooter rideable for the second day of races, but I could definitely tell it was not normal and would have to be fixed before the next season.

Yesterday, I called a local bike repair shop to see if they would be able to fix the suspension cable. I explained that I had a kickbike to run sled dogs and they had no idea what I was talking about. They asked for the model name and number to look it up online to see if it was something they could work with.

They seemed to think they could fix it, but needed me to bring it to them to check out in person to be sure. So I did.

When I got to the bike shop, three men were standing at the counter. I mentioned I had just talked to someone on the phone about a kickbike and had it out in the parking lot. One guy followed me outside to take a look and was immediately curious about it. He asked to take it inside to show the others and to confirm they could fix it.

When he wheeled it in, the others were also interested in what the kickbike was and what it was used for. When I explained it to them, they said someone else in our town also runs dogs, and had brought a four wheel rig in to them last fall to tune up!

I don’t know of anyone else in our town that runs dogs, so I put some feelers out to try and find them. But apparently, whoever this person is breeds some sort of a smaller dog, and runs multiple of them on a four wheel rig. The shop workers thought it was something like a Corgi, but not for certain.

Apparently a couple years ago, they also had someone else bring in a three wheel rig for running dogs! If I’m able to find out who they are and if they still run, I would love to meet up with these people.

In the meantime, the bike shop is going to repair the broken suspension line and give the whole kickbike a once over to make sure everything is in proper working condition. They think it’ll take about a week. Of course, by then it’ll be back up into the 90s lol. Oh well, at least we will be ready next time the temperatures drop!

Hope you all have a great weekend, we’ll talk to you next week!
