Hello! We have a few quick stories to share with you all this week, so let’s just get right into it!

If you’ve followed us for a while, you know that my dad’s relationship with Boo has been a struggle. Not sure what it is with Boo, but he does not like a lot of men, especially the bigger they are. My dad has been trying to befriend Boo for nearly 5 years now (holy crap, it’s been that long?!), with little in the way of progress.

I took Boo and Pence over to my dad’s house for a few hours this past weekend and don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think we may have made a little progress?

Pence has taken to my dad a little quicker than Boo. Although she still gets a little nervous at first that we may leave her there, she willingly jumps up on the couch next to him for pets! She didn’t even get the nervous shakes this time!

Boo, being his jealous self, saw her getting attention and walked up for to my dad for pets as well! He has done this a few times in the past, but only when my dad is sitting down, and usually only briefly.

Of course, I had to catch this rare moment in photos. It was so sweet! This is why humans were made with two hands - to pet two dogs at once!

On Wednesday, we were expecting to get some freezing rain in the evening while I was teaching pickleball. I was a little worried that Boo would get anxious while I was gone, given his somewhat new fear of rain, but it was supposed to be fairly light rain.

However, there ended up being crazy lightning and thunder! When it was 30 degrees! Pretty uncommon. When I heard the thunder while at pickleball, I knew Boo was going to be a nervous wreck in his crate.

When I got home, I was not surprised to see that he had moved his crate about a foot and a half from where it usually is against the wall. He also pulled his blanket that covers his crate through the crate holes. Poor guy was panting and shaking like crazy. His anxiety made Pence anxious too.

When I let him out of the crate, he immediately ran to my closet and dove under my hanging shirts. His safe space. The thunder and lightning was done by the time I got home, but it was still freezing rain. He didn’t come out of the closet for several hours. Slept there all night.

Ok last thing for today…Julie Buckles from Honest Dog Books posted this photo of Boo’s brother, Matt Power, on Bluesky the other day. I cannot get over how IDENTICAL their bodies are. I tried to get a photo of Boo with his ears back like Matty P’s photo, but Boo’s ears were not cooperating lol. I’d love to reunite these brothers some day!
